Cat seems to have lost hair around both eyes. Her eyelids seem swollen. Vet is clueless. Anyone had

My cat appears to have lost some hair around both eyes, but I think her eyelids are swollen. She's been like this for about 3 weeks. The Vet has seen her but can't figure out why... Any ideas?

The cat is healhty otherwise, not scratching or rubbing eyes, eyes seem fine, not irritated, nothing unusual except the way her eylids look.

Wow, sounds like a real bad allergic reaciton to something (I get like that too)!

Could she been getting her paws into some sort of chemical like a household cleaning agent then rubbing her eyes?

if your vet doesn't know, then get a second opinion. If they don't know maybe you'll need to see a dermatologist or some other specialist. maybe something weird like fungus or autoimmune disorder.

Did the vet consider allergies? That's what it sounds like to me.

I think you shall get the second opinion from the other vet, a better place to start to look up for a veterinary specialty center, There are a number of reasons that a cat might lose her hair. In some cases it can be an allergy to something in the environment, parasites or a food allergy. In other situations the cat may be grooming excessively and removing the hair. Cats that are anxious over changes in their environment might over groom. In other situations other animals in the home may make the cat anxious. I believe it has do more with the allergy thing. I took my dog for the same reason except the hair around the eyes. the veterinary specialty center has the different opinion than my regular vet, because they are specialized in eyes, and deep area of the eyes than general ones that regular vet know of. They have treated my dog with eye problem better than my regular vet. I goes to my regular vet or other things than eye problems from now on. I goes to veterinary specialty center for eye check up on my dog.

If this was you or your child you would seek an answer from another doctor asap. Take your cat asap to another vet, preferably one that has beeen practicing many years or does emergency work with animals. This may be something serious developing that your current vet is not aware of. Don't take chances or your cat might even lose it's sight. Again, if this was you, your child, or a loved on in your family would you wait to seek answers from a doctor? (This can't be pleasant for the cat either. If I was like this I think I'd be miserable.)
