Im a 17 year old male, and my father has a full head of hair, but everyone on my mom's side has lost their hair.

Sounds hereditary on your mother side you do have some hope since your father's side has full head of hair. Based on that your chances are 50/50 but I would talk to Dr and get professional help if it concerns you. Suggestion if your hair was to fall out just cut it all off. Don't resort to wigs comb overs coloring scalp or hair transplants. Big waste of time and money.

Sorry, but male pattern baldness comes from your mother's side of your family. So if you mother's side has lost all their hair, then you will too.

Just don't do the dreaded comb over. Be a man and just keep your hair really short when it starts to happen.

Correction!! If your grandfather had a FULL head of hair and your dad was bald, you have a good chance of having a full head of hair. Baldness usually occurs in every other generation and is genetic, so you really cannot prevent it from falling out. Good luck!!

The new thing is now.. that baldness can come from either side.They used to say from the mothers side. My mother's father was Cherokee Indian. I never got the hair gene from her side of the family. I started losing mine around 25.. I like it now. Some guys can pull off the bald thing. I'm lucky. Regarding the hair loss.. My boys are different. One is bald the other's are not. Same parents. My dad was bald and his brother was not. It's a crap shoot basically. .Good luck
