About a month ago I dyed my hair golden brown (I am a natural ash-brunette) and I wasn't happy with the results so I re-dyed with dark brown within 24 hours. The dark brown turned out almost black so I tried to fade the color. First I used prell shampoo left on my head for an hour (twice) which turned my hair into straw basically. My mom told me to use apple cider vinegar as a rinse but she didn't tell me to dilute it so I poured it on full strength and it stung my scalp something awful. I think I messed up the PH of my scalp because I developed a smelly scalp fungus a couple days later. I finally got rid of the fungus with a strong sulphur shampoo.
The scalp fungus has been gone for weeks but now it seems like I lose more hair in the shower than normal. I don't know if I have always lost hair when I shower or if I am just extra paranoid about my hair now. My hair is still growing really fast and there is a lot of new hair growing on my scalp. My hair does not look to be any thinner
Can chemicals or scalp fungus cause hair loss?
yes ofcourse! you know, the real main cause of hair loss is a fungus? i have some hair loss from fungus but i havent thinned at all and ive been shedding for a long time now so dont worry but your hair is just in shock from all the stuff you put in it , just leave it alone for a while and itll stop shedding dont worry. and the apple cider vinegar did not cause the fungus, on the contrary it HELPS eliminate the fungus and it probably stung becuase your scalp was sore from all the dying. just leave it

Did you learn your lesson? Please don't attempt chemical services at home. It seems like there are sooooo many people that think it's no big deal to color, cut, hi-light etc.their own hair. You really have to know what you are doing! Cosmetologist spend a lot of time in school learning the dangers of mixing the wrong chemicals together, what hair can and cannot handle certain strengths, procedures and most important, what after care should be taken into consideration after a service. Save a little money, go get your hair a conditioning treatment from a professional and don't be cheap when it comes to hair care. In the long run, the money you spend is worth it!
