we own rottweilers as well. A good brushing once or twice a week, as well as adding some fatty oils to the diet will help. Talk with your local pet store or vet, they will give you a name of some essential fatty acid pills on the market. Or if you can get boys to eat food with a tablespoon of olive oil this can help with some of the shedding.

But also make sure that they are eating a good quality diet, and are healthy. Like many of the posts before have said. excessive shedding can be a sign of illness.

good luck!

A daily brushing with a good stiff brush will solve your problem.

Sounds like a good brushing and a bath might be in order. Would you not comb your hair every day? It is the same thing. You need to help them with their grooming a little bit. And don't be surprised at the amount of hair you are seeing. This will subside over time and dogs always shed at certain seasons.

My lab was losing tons of hair and I noticed he had a rash around his legs after a week or so of losing hair. I brought him into the Vet and it ended up being a staph infection so I paid about $20.00 for antibiotics and now his hair looks great. It didn't matter how much I brushed or bathed him - good luck.

We had two Rottweillers that shed terribly. We later learned that cancer was the reason for the excessive hair loss. If your Rottweillers are seniors, I would have them xrayed to rule out cancer.

Varnish 'em! Only joking! I have three very hairy dogs that shed enough hair to start a very successful toupe business, if it wasn't for the lovely doggy smell of the stuff. For short rottweiller coats you can get a textured rubber grooming mitt/brush that pulls out the loose hairs very well, a daily going over with one of them should polish them up nicely!

Groom them every day with a hound glove and ask your vet whether he thinks there is some kind of deficiancy in their diet causing excess hair loss.

Give your home furnishings dark to minimise the appearance of the shed hair!
